On-the-Job Hours Progress Calculator

On-the-job hour requirements are the part of a trade licence that cannot be shortened by studying harder. They are counted, verified by an employer, and usually have to be documented in a specific format the board accepts.

The calculator below tells you whether your current pace reaches the target, and what pace would.

Get hours signed off as you go

The single most common failure is a stack of unverified hours from an employer who has closed, moved, or lost the records. Hours you cannot prove are hours you did not work, as far as a board is concerned.

Ask for verification quarterly, keep your own copy, and store it somewhere that survives a phone upgrade.

Not every hour counts the same

Many boards cap the share of hours from one category of work, or require a minimum in specific areas. Check the breakdown against your logs early — discovering at year four that you are short in one category is a costly correction.
